Subject: Error saving attachments on server: "object store database is disabled"
Feedback Type: Problem
Product Area: Domino Server
Technical Area: Error Message
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5
Reproducible: Unknown

A customer has a database on a Domino 8.5.0 server for which DAOS is enabled.
There's a scheduled agent running on the server that saves attachments from the database to the file system, copies and renames them, uses another program to modify the files, and reattaches them.

Last night, someone ran a copy-style compact on this database. I'm not sure, but I think that was all they did.
Since the compact, the agent has been failing. Every time it attempts to save an attachment to the file system, two messages like the following appear in the server log:

14/03/2012 08:39:58 AM Database object read error: E:\databases\truckdata.nsf: The object store database is disabled.
14/03/2012 08:39:58 AM AMgr: Agent ('RunAnalysisAuto' in 'databases\truckdata.nsf') printing: INITIALIZE line 158 error 4005: Notes error: The object store database is disabled. (D:\Temp\filename.xls)

Also, documents with attachments are accessible on the web, but the attachments can't be saved from a web browser either. Clicking an attachment in a web page produces an error page saying "Error 200. HTTP Web Server: Lotus Notes Exception - The object store database is disabled."

At the same time as the error page appears in a web browser, these two messages appear in the Domino server log:
14/03/2012 04:33:22 PM Database object read error: E:\databases\truckdata.nsf: The object store database is disabled.
14/03/2012 04:33:22 PM HTTP Web Server: Lotus Notes Exception - The object store database is disabled. [/databases/truckdata.nsf/0/bf025dcb1fd8b9b8ca2578a00008c515/$FILE/JALEXD52E87000013-20110530.pdf]

What causes this problem and how can I fix it?
